Christina is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. She earned her BA in Psychology from Arizona State University and holds a master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy.

Christina is one of our school-age specialists. She knew from a young age that she wanted to be a therapist, and so she appreciates working with students to provide support early in life. Teens and middle school students love Christina’s relatable approach and practical style.

Christina began working in the mental health field as a Registered Behavioral Technician (RBT) with children on the autism spectrum. Using Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), she taught new skills and reduced problem behaviors like aggression. After two years as a behavioral technician, she became a program manager and supervisor. This involved creating treatment plans for clients and working weekly with caregivers to help them support their child. She also ran a weekly social skills group practicing Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to work with children ages 5-7.

More recently, Christina has worked in public schools with various presenting issues including ADHD, autism, anxiety, and depression. She uses play therapy, art therapy, and child-led therapy. These methods help her meet the clients where they are. This ensures that a child feels safe and understood in sessions. Christina is an excellent ally to parents, helping them strengthen family relationships. She helps parents establish effective strategies with their kids for today’s challenges.

Christina heads up our ADHD support group for parents and caregivers. It is a weekly drop-in session by video. The session is open to all adults who want to learn more about supporting neurodiversity.

Christina’s experience with families has helped her to work with couples in high conflict relationships. Christina enjoys family work and believes that each family member plays an important role in making up a functioning family system. She works directly with parents/co-parents to help them navigate difficulties, develop positive parenting skills, strengthen their relationships with their children. If appropriate, Christina helps strengthen the parents’ relationship as well.

Christina’s training includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Mindfulness, Attachment Theory, and Emotionally Focused Therapy. She meets clients with warmth, openness, and acceptance. She is inclusive and aware of cultural, religious, ethnic, gender, and sexual identities. She is committed to continuing her education and increasing her cultural competence.

When Christina isn’t in session with clients, she enjoys spending time with her loved ones. She engages in creativity of some form, and spends time outdoors with her partner and dog.
