Naomi Briley Headshot

Naomi is licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communications from Howard University and a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Holy Names University.

Naomi incorporates an empathic, practical, and playful approach to counseling. Her style is relationship-based and incorporates current research in developmental psychology and attachment theory. Naomi uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems Therapy, Child-Parent Psychotherapy and Play Therapy. She is a trained “Circle of Security International” facilitator and has received special training in Child Parent Psychotherapy and Dovetail “We Are Resilient”, a researched-based framework for coping with stress, and strengthening relationships.

Naomi has worked with children and adolescents with a range of socio-emotional, developmental and behavioral challenges. Naomi has experience with individual and group therapy, working in Bay Area schools and with UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital in Oakland. At UCSF Naomi led weekly parent/child groups to help caregivers and young children manage stress and promote resilience, and this is still an area of interest and expertise.

Prior to becoming a therapist, Naomi worked to build and manage programs for a number of Bay Area organizations committed to the health and wellness of marginalized children and their families.

Naomi is the proud mother of a daughter and believes that her own parenting experience has enriched her therapeutic work, giving her greater empathy and understanding for the families she serves. A native San Franciscan who now resides in the East Bay, Naomi enjoys hiking in the redwoods at Joaquin Miller Park, practicing yoga, exploring cultures through their cuisines and then trying to cook those new dishes at home.

Naomi is not currently accepting new clients. Please inquire about Kennedy or Christina’s availability for school age kids, or Marcus, Tsveta, or Eric for parent coaching.
